Hey friends!
A couple of weeks ago, I made a list of some of my favorite things. At the top of that list was this book, The Pursuit of God, by A.W. Tozer. It has had a massive impact on my walk with Jesus. It’s caused me to see God, prayer, and my life in such a different way. I read much of this book on my knees and in tears. I only wish I would have found it 10 years before I did!
Well, today I want to give one of you a copy. I know it will be a huge blessing to you as you read it!
All you have to do is leave a comment below with the name of a book (besides the Bible) that’s had a major impact on you, and click that retweet button on the left.
On Friday, my son and I will randomly draw a winner (like we did here) and we’ll announce the winner here on the blog. You may want to subscribe to the blog so that you don’t miss it if you’re the winner.
You’re going to love the book and I’ll be praying that it’s a major blessing to you!

A book that made an impact on my live is “A Cloud of Witnesses” by Steven Northrop. I have not read this cover to cover but selections out of it. It is a collection of writings by “The greatest men in the world”. This would be Kings, presedents, diplomats… Each man was asked to write about his believe about Christ.
a book that has made a big impact on me is “The Jesus of Suburbia” by Mike Erre
My favorite book of all time is “The Pursuit of God” by Tozer. I borrowed a copy from my pastor and read/prayed the book on my knees as well. I would love to have a copy of my own to go through again and mark up this time.
I’m pretty sure mine has more highlighted than not!
Heaven is for Real, by Todd Burpo.
Excellant book quick read.
One of the books that had major impact in my life was “The Breaking of the Outer Man and the Release of the Spirit” by Watchman Nee. It was a humbling experience.
Watchman Nee wrote some amazing stuff!
The book that has had the most impact recently is “Words of Counsel for Christian Workers” by Spurgeon.
I’m currently in the middle of a book that’s making a very significant impact on me. Church Planter by Darrin Patrick
That’s on my list of books to read. Let me know how you like it!
The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. It’s one of the first Christian books I read and had a huge impact on me. After that, I started reading the Bible. And not too long after, I committed myself to Christ.
Praise God!
Tozer’s “The Pursuit of God” is one of my all time favorites. If I were to get a copy, I would give it as a gift to a new believer or an unsaved friend or family member.
Right up there with Tozer is Wiersbe’s “On Being a Servant of God”…powerful. My daily favorite for the past 11 years is “My Utmost For His Highest” by Oswald Chambers.
Have a blessed day, Lee!
I’ve been reading “My Utmost for His Highest” every year since I was a teenager. Awesome stuff!
Waking the Dead by John Eldredge and The Great Divorce by CS Lewis are a solid tie for me. Read both at the same time one summer and my life was changed.
Waking the Dead had a big impact on me. Great stuff!
my favorite book is if you want to walk on water you have to get out of the boat by john ortberg
Read it. Good stuff!
Lee –
There are so many books that have impacted me it is difficult to find just one. I will give two. “Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness” by Jerry Cook and “Coop” by Michael Perry. “Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness” is filled with challenge because of the way Cook views God and the role of the church today. Written in the late 70’s, it is still relevant and was so far ahead of its time, I think in many ways the church has still not caught up to what he was saying then. Also, the fact that it is still in print 30 years later must mean he had something of value to say.
“Coop” is the incredible writings of a man in search of meaning in the universe and asking questions about whether God is real when facing tragedy, struggles, and every day life. The best part about “Coop” is that Perry is still in the middle of this journey and has not yet discovered who God is, but is starting to ask himself deep questions. Although his topics (farming, trucks, music, and living simply) are not what everybody would find interesting, his writing is absolutely phenomenal.
I hope you will check them out!

Love, Acceptance, and Forgiveness was excellent! Every minister should read it.
“Hinds Feet on High Places” by Hannah Hurnard has been so special to me over the years. So often I have felt like little Much Afraid who is on a journey to the Kingdom of Love with her Shepherd, her only helpers Sorrow and Suffering by her side. With each obstacle she encounters a new seed of love is put in her heart. Really need to read it again soon!
Narrowing it down to a single books is quite difficult.
“How to be Led by the Holy Spirit” by Ken E. Hagin was the first impacting book, followed by “Believer’s Authority” by Ken E. Hagin….
Recently, “Christ the Healer” by F.F. Bosworth & “Conspiracy of Kindness” by Steve Sjogren have made the list.
Desiring God by John Piper
Lectures on Revival – Charles Finney
In addition to the Pursuit of God, a book that deeply changed my view of God’s character was The Holiness of God, by R.C. Sproul. I read both of these as a new Christian in my mid-20’s. After 15 years, they still influence my walk.
Crazy Love by Francis Chan and Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper
Both really made me look into my walk and a child of God and made me see where I was
I would have to say Shane Clainborne’s Irresistible Revolution. Life changing!
That one’s sitting in my queue to read. I can’t wait to dig in to it!
”CRAZY LOVE” BY FRANCIS CHAN THAT BOOK HAS HAD AN INCREDIBLE IMPACT IN MY LIFE AND IT HAS CALLED ME TO LOVE LIKE JESUS DID. GOD BLESS YOU LEE ON YOUR WALK WITH JESUS.
Crazy Love was great!
“Do You Think I’m Beautiful” by Angela Thomas. I read it at a difficult time in my marriage. It made me realize that no matter what happened next in our (my husband’s and I) relationship, God really, truly, deeply loved ME…right where I was, and that I was accepted by God, even when I didn’t deserve it. It made me more confident in my walk with God, knowing that He loved me, truly has a plan just for me, and that He would carry me through any circumstance.
Okay, this just reminds me how little I read now. One of my favorites is the Left Behind series. It really reminds me about what is important now and what we have to look forward to.
If you haven’t read in a while, The Pursuit of God is a great place to pick it back up!
What’s so amazing about grace? By phillip yancy my church gives a copy to anyone who comes on staff so I first started reading it because I had to but half way through the first chapter I was hooked!
“Unlimiting God” by Richard Blackaby is one book that I really enjoyed.
A book that has made a huge impact on me would be Morning and Evening, C.H. Spurgeon, Alistair Begg, ed.
“Faith and Doubt” by John Ortberg, unlike his other books, this is NOT an easy read; it is very profound and thought provoking. Even so, it still contains his wit and demeanor and it will be one that I will read multiple times, perhaps a small-group study. I think it goes by another name now “Know Doubt: The Importance of Embracing Uncertainty in Your Faith.” A must read! I love all of John Ortberg’s books and he is a great speaker as well.
“The Power of a Praying Wife” By Stormy O’Martian.
