I love communication. I’m always asking myself, “What message does this give?” Sometimes, when I walk from my car to the auditorium of a church, I’ll think about all of the different messages a visitor might perceive when taking the same route.
I pass this church from time to time and I wanted to know what you thought:
1.) What message do you think this church is trying to give by this sign? (church name, etc)
2.) What message do you think is perceived by those who pass by it?
3.) Do those messages gel?
Let me know what you think!

Wow. I’m sure they meant well, and it must have made sense in some small meeting. Good reminder to think things through from the reader’s perspective!
I heard the sign was a misprint, should have said ‘The Dedicated Pew’ O_o
All joking aside, I think church folk over think their church or group name. My church has Crosswalk Youth, and Young at Heart Senior ministry, and Leonard’s Freehold an outreach ministry, and I wonder, how many man hours went into debating the names that instead could have been spent doing ministry?
I do give ‘The Dedicated Few’ props for not spending hundreds of dollars on a lighted sign that had misspellings on it. Nor did they fall back and pick something like “7th Avenue Nondenominational Church of 7th Avenue”
“We small, but we’re dedicated. The rest of you are losers.” That’s how it reads to me.
