Possessions are fun. I’m not going to lie to you. It’s fun to buy stuff, play with it, drive it, watch it, talk on it, whatever. But…
Experiences are memorable. I wouldn’t trade some of my experiences, like my trips to Ireland, even for a new Mac.
Some people can afford both, but most of us can’t. We ultimately end up choosing one over the other, even if we’re not aware that we’ve made that choice.
So how about you? Are you a possession person or an experience person? Post your answer in the comments section (There’s no right or wrong answer). Thanks so much!

EXPERIENCES! I wouldn’t trade my memories for anything! Especially not for a house full of stuff.
EXPERIENCES!
I’d like to say, ‘Experiences,’ but my life says ‘Possessions.’ I am working to change that because I realize that stuff will break, but the stuff you DO will last.
Thanks, Lee, for the checkup.
Thanks for your honest answer Dave!
Dave, you may think so but I’d have to disagree with you. Mr Marathon, Colorado vacation, etc. you are experience, baby!

Oh I like “stuff” an aweful lot, I ain’t gunna lie. But the older I get the more I treasure experiences. Especially this time of year. Memories of Christmas when my children were little are precious. Because life changes so quickly. You can’t force a memory…what I mean is…you can’t make it happen again. Try as I might, I can never make a holiday memory like the ones we used to have.
Definitely experiences….especially with my family. When I come to the end of this life, I will still have the experiences…most of the possessions will be in the landfill.
Experiences BY far! – although some of my possessions have opened the door to new experiences. Examples: Having a friend temporarily stay in the spare room of my home. Bringing a book to school when I was a student and having a classmate talk to me about the book.
i would rather have experiences….BUT, its the possessions that help you remember the experience (ie…camera). we have a digital picture frame with only pictures from our disney vacation 2 summers ago.
To be honest, I do like my toys – particularly my laptop (as a producer and DJ, it provides hours of fun being able to make and play music for myself and to others), but ultimately, it’s the experiences that I’ll really treasure – simply because they mean more in the scheme of life overall. “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years” as Abraham Lincoln put it. I wouldn’t trade moments spent with my family or DJing to crowds (which I admit, used the toys!) days out at theme parks, trips for mission, holidays abroad, sunrises, sunsets, tender moments with those closest to me – all priceless!
Experiences.
But I’m lazy to travel, can’t do it alone, & I’d rather spend & on material things, so..
Well, I still say Experiences. 🙂
Thanks for your honesty!
Experiences all the way!!! Those experience last a life time and are etched in our memory forever. New toys, gadgets, clothes etc. last for only a few seasons.
I would also rather do many different experiences than the same experience over and over again.
Experiences. Hangin’ with the peeps is the way to go. I love having stories to tell too.
Andy
I would have to be honest and say I love both. However, I would give up everything I own for some of the amazing experiences I have had and I long deeply for such experiences…from those pinnacle spiritual moments of my life to a simple conversation over a coffee with someone I love.
Material possessions mean little,if you have them I trust you would use them, share them to the maximum of their perceived value.Experiences on the other hand are of infinite value, good and bad through the course of life define you as an individual.Your, soul the most valuable part of your being leaves this world it’s destination determined by one single experience, the simple choice you made in accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. We live in an age where we are bombarded with reasons why we need all the latest toys and technology, reading what the Lord has to say about this current church(Laodicea), it would appear we have been seduced by the appeal of the material.Blessings Lee on your sons Baptism,an experience that nothing material will ever supercede.
Thanks Allen!
That is a tough one Lee. I’m into both probably to an unhealthy extent, but I guess if I’d have to choose one I’d choose the experiences. My wife and I waited 8yrs after we were married to have a child simply because we wanted time to travel and experience as much as we could. My memories of our countless travels are priceless. Don’t get me wrong I’m a gizmo geek as well and work every angle possible to keep up to date, BUT I’d rather drag my 3 or 4yr old macbook on a cruise to the Caribbean than sit at home using a new one.
My wife and I are more experiences people (don’t get me wrong. I love my iphone and tech toys). We’d rather go on a trip to visit out of state family than have more ‘toys’ at home. But yeah, putting my phone away when I return home from the office can sometimes be tough… I try to keep a “blackout” period from 6-10pm so my attention is undivided.
Great idea!
experiences, experiences, experiences all the way. I have just had the honor of having a bakesale with my fellow Auxiliary members. I got to go shopping… oh yes, me who hates to shop, but I had a blast. Jackets sizes 24 mon. and sz 7… and a few other things. you know it gets pretty cold here for a long time during our winters Lee. I don’t know who these items will go to but I had blast and it I felt Jesus’ love and all the excitement of helping a family with the help of several wonderful ladies from our group. There is no doubt in my mind, this left me just a grinning. God Peace to you and yours Lee. <3
Sounds like a great experience!
Experiences, with a side order of possessions.
Experiences
Experiences. Duh.
